The Youth Investigation Unit has developed its operations in recent years and created an organization that provides conditions for a good working environment and quality in case handling. The unit is therefore divided into four teams. The reception team receives new updates on ongoing cases and is prepared for situations where children and youth are in urgent need of protection and support. The two Investigation Teams conduct investigations and consider interventions. The follow-up team is tasked with monitoring interventions, both open interventions and when children and youth are placed outside the home. The purpose of the organization is to enable caseworkers to work proactively and carry out investigations and follow-ups according to plan. The goal is to achieve a balance between tasks and working hours.
The unit has four team leaders who supervise their respective teams. This gives the social worker access to close supervision and social support, both individually in case matters and through case reviews. Supervision and social support are also provided in groups through case preparations and group supervision.
There are two administrators in the unit who, through their work, provide conditions for high legal security in the operations, i.e., order and clarity.
All new employees are offered a well-developed introduction program that is tailored for you whether you are new to the profession or experienced. The workplace introduction takes place under the close guidance of a social worker who has 50% of their position allocated for the introduction of new employees. The municipality of Gävle is also part of the Career Journey and its program for introduction and skills development.
The employer has introduced a competence and authority ladder that allows for an internal career without managerial responsibilities. Here, individuals with personal suitability can be appointed as specialist social workers with a special salary supplement.
The unit works according to BBIC and uses Signs of Safety.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The unit's mission is to investigate the needs of children and youth for protection and support, as well as to follow up on interventions. This includes open interventions as well as placements in HVB homes, SIS institutions, and temporary placements.
The work is carried out independently, together with a colleague, and with the support of team leaders. This involves planning, handling, and documenting cases, as well as leading meetings and coordinating work with others. It requires skill in communicating and collaborating with children, youth, and their families, as well as colleagues and partners. Society and children's needs change, which requires openness to learning new things, developing oneself and the working methods in the unit.
For this position, a criminal record extract from the police is required. This will ONLY be requested from the final candidate in the last step of the recruitment process.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with a degree in social work. Previous experience is an advantage.
To succeed in your role as a social worker, you will work to follow legal requirements, policies, and instructions, as well as adhere to set timelines. You possess the ability to see what needs to be prioritized and organized, are efficient, and use resources to achieve results in the best way possible. You work with legal certainty and have good judgment.
You are good at working both independently and collaboratively, you are perceived as stable, easily build trust, and always strive to provide a good response. You find it easy to create and maintain good relationships and collaborate well with people in various contexts and functions.
You have a good initiative and understand spoken and written communication well. You have good documentation skills and can express yourself well in speech and writing. You adapt your language to different situations and functions.
You have experience with BBIC (children's needs in focus) and SoS (Signs of Safety).
A driver's license and good driving experience are required for the position.
